On May 28, 1965, at the age of 70, William Daniel Harvey died of a Heart Attack in the woods beside his house. Daniel is interred in Ashetown at the Albert Ashe/Harvey Cemetery in Rich Square, NC.
Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!! God is good all the time, all the time God is good!
Thanks to Gloria Richardson Greene, her daughter, Patricia Greene, and her cousin, Calvin Harvey, a long-time wish has been fulfilled. For quite some time, Janie Harvey Grant, Mabel Harvey Sexton and Louise Harvey Jacobs have wanted to be reunited with their nephew, Ralph "Puddin'" Hinton. So Gloria went on a quest to find him and the culmination of that search took place April 3, 2012, in Rich Square, NC, at the home of Janie Harvey Grant. Many relatives and friends stopped by to see him during the course of the afternoon, including but not limited to: Janie, Mabee, Louise, Johnnie Mae Grant Edwards, Callie Ward Jacobs, Ernest "June" Bowser, Judith Ward, Geneva Branch, "Little Buddy" Gray, Hubert Edwards, James Lowell Jacobs, Robert Sexton, Jr., Hessalee Deloatch Ward, Clara Mae Carey, Phyllis Sexton. It was so rewarding to see the happiness on the faces of Janie, Mabel and Louise at being reunited "one more time" with their nephew. This was a day that will be long remembered and brought much joy to many people.
I would like to take this time and space to state emphatically that the
buzz and feedback about the Harvey 2010 mass reunion was 99.9% positive
and commended by many as a job well done.
Sadly and unfortunately I had to remain in Northampton County an extra
week to support and assist with the burial of my Sire, "The June Bug"
(Wm. Daniel Harvey Jr.) who passed that Saturday afternoon July 17, 2010
while we were all gathered at the Cultural Center in Jackson, NC.
June Bug had been anxiously wanting to get out of the hospital so he
could attend the Harvey 2010 Reunion. He wanted to live a little longer,
he said, to see you all...epecially the relatives and friends he had
not seen in decades. But, from his residence that afternoon he was
called home by his Lord and Savior because his work here was done.
Now, I would like to give a special thanks to my dear first cousins
Enora Harvey-Sheffield, Rosa Lee Harvey Grant-Thomas, Cora Lee
Williams-Jacobs, Johnnie Malinda Grant-Edwards and brother Leroy Sexton,
sister Phyllis Sexton and Good Ole Friend Robert L. Price for their
love and support in assisting the Wm. Daniel Harvey Jr. family unit and
sisters Mable, Janie and Louise during their loss, sorrow and grief.
Much Love to the aforementioned , and all other extended family members
and friends for their love and support doing those difficult times.
