CDR Tyrone L. Ward - CO Misawa Air Base, Misawa, Japan
Hello, family!
I know many of you expressed interest in my son, CDR Tyrone L.
Ward, when he became CO at NIOC Misawa, Misawa Air Base, Misawa, Japan, last
June.  In view of recent events in northern Japan, we felt an update was in
order.

As it happens, Tyrone was attending meetings in Norfolk, VA, last week
so was not in Japan at the time of the earthquake/tsunami and subsequent nuclear
power plant explosions.  He has been in touch with his people at the base and
reports that damage there was minimal although they were without power for a
couple of days.  He is scheduled to be in the US about another 10 days then he
will be making his way back to Misawa.  Hopefully, train service thru Sendai
will be restored by then.  Otherwise, it may be a long, arduous trip from Tokyo
to Misawa!

The Naval and Air Force personnel at Misawa are already involved in the clean-up
operations off base.

If you have a Facebook account, you can find pictures and
updates on the NIOC Misawa page.  If you "like" the page, any updates/pics will
appear in your news feed as they are posted.

Please keep the people of Japan as well as our US Service personnel stationed
there in your prayers.  Things are really bad for them right now!

Thank you and God bless.
Judi Ward
